I didn't intend to sound demeaning to the Brit fisherman. In fact, the 30' pole I saw was an amazing piece of technology. It looks exactly like my favorite 9' glass of graphite bream pole scaled up 3X. The handle must have been over 2" in diameter. I bet it cost a pretty penny.

No pictures of the pole, but they are indeed 30' long. No reel used. He just pulls the pole in like a rope.
