I have only heard of the plastic bag trick for house flies. Lots of BBQ joints I go to have them outside the door. The flies seem to be fascinated with their reflections. Those geckos came from the mediteranean area. We loved them in Houston. Once they showed up a lot of our bug problems went away, but not mosquitoes. What about one of those propane mosquito traps? I have borrowed one and it worked, but I don't know about long term control.
