Anyone have these in thier pond? Also called Red Spotted Sunfish

I don't have them my pond, but they are in most creeks here in East Texas.. We just allways called them Red Perch..

I believe in the some places, people call redear a stumpknocker. That is not a redear pic, though. Never saw a fish just like that one. Not an actual photo, where did the pic come from?

 I found this picture which says it is an " adult male Lepomis humilis. Our native red-spotted sunfish makes a great keeper." http://www.aqualandpetsplus.com/Misc%20Cool%20Water%20Fish.htm Are red spotted and orange spotted sunfish the same species? Is this a regional variation in name? Looks like good LMB bait to me.

Different fish. Lepomis miniatus Redspotted sunfish-- very few occurrences listed.  Lepomis humilis Orangespotted sunfish -- very large area which overlaps the small area of RSS

Is there a commecial source anywhere for these good lookin' stumpknockers? I want some.

Man, you guys down south have all the neat fish. I'd love to be able to add some of these more unusual sunfish, but, as an enviro guy, I understand the problem with importing different species.
Bout the prettiest things we have are pumpkinseeds (which are gorgeous, btw) but they're tough to come by. Catch 'em sometimes while trout fishing up north. Might try bringing a few home...probably end up as CC fuel.
In a lifetime, the average driver will honk 15,250 times. My wife figures I'm due to die any day now...

Matt, don't listen to them, orangespotted sunfish are legal in Iowa.
1/4 & 3/4 acre ponds. A thousand miles from no where and there is no place I want to be...

I don't know of one nor have I heard of one but my sources are not that wide spread. I suggest you send Todd and Bob an email or PM and see what they have run across. Also CB1 or Greg may know of someone even though they are not close to you. TPW may have some info also. Good luck and let us know what you find out.
