Mark, I would make one suggestion for your duck boxes, when we built many of them for Waterfowl USA we didn't use netting or hardware cloth, we scored groves in the wood on the inside of the entrance so there was no chance of the ducklings getting their feet tangled, we also put a block of wood at the top of the box where it was mounted so it would angle slightly forward to make it easier for them to climb out.
