Rex - In my limited experience with YP over the past couple years, I've observed the strands on my saplings and other grassy vegetation. I have a number of x-mas trees also so I wouln't be surprised if they use them too. Some strands fell off the saplings last year so I simply lifted them back onto the saplings.

They are definitely a brighter white and easy to pick out.
