Adironack Pond I have trout issues right now too. Not sure what it is but my brook trout are stressed after I cranked up the well this spring. Either iron or a PH change or both. Some are off feed (feeding less) and hanging along the edges of the pond. I think this has happened before when I exclusively had brook trout, and if so they will adapt but I may lose a few. I'm feeding them a broad spectrum antibiotic known as romet for five days to see if it helps. If it's iron it's irritating their gills and may cause a bacterial infection.

My brown trout never gave me problems like this. The brookies are apparently more sensitive or have finer gill filaments.


If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
