Yes, croaker fight like freight trains! We can catch them right off my dad's dock from late April into mid May. They like the shallow warmer water that time of year. I like to catch them on 2 lb test, now that is some fun... My biggest so far was 21.5". Piles of fun!

I don't find bluefish and Spanish mackerel taste anything alike. I like Spanish mackerel better than bluefish though. All I do is gut the fish, leaving the head and tail still on, put some olive oil on aluminum foil, place the fish on the foil, place some lemon slices, some salt, pepper, chives and a bit more oil inside the stomach cavity and around the fish and wrap it up. Into the oven at 325. Mmmmm!

My best day of fishing is yet to come, my son is now 14 months old so I have to wait a bit yet, but it is growing nearer every day.

As far as numbers go, well I have a couple days I remember. Up north in Quebec one June afternoon, my Dad and I trolled over a school of Walleye on a weedy edge in 6 foot of water, both of us hooked up and landed two nice walleye, 20 inchers more or less. We lined up again and trolled back over the 6 foot edge and got the same results, over the next 2 days we trolled and trolled that shore line and caught fish after fish, rarely did we make a pass without at least one hook up or hit at least. I never counted the first afternoon but the second day we had over 150 fish in the boat by noon. I hate to tell this story because in a crowd of folks all you get is that "yeah right" look from people, but it happenned, same lake I caught 79 Northern Pike from in a single morning trolling and casting shorline.

The thing that is strangest to me about the walleye is that they never spread out or quit feeding, it was post spawn and they were stacked up and feeding heavily, but usually that much boat traffic will spread walleye in shallow water like that. We haven't hit the same conditions there since.

Thanks Jake, folks are bored with photos of common 9-10 inch CNBG and the archives are full of those pictures, so no more unless they hit ~11 inches.
I carry a small tape measure on a lanyard and measure each of the bulls but when 9-10 inches they begin to get wider and thicker.

I do keep personal photos of my OTS CNBG in picture journal to document growth but no 11 inchers as yet.

I'd sure love to see the video. Hope you post it.

I have a striped trip bass similar to Bruce's HSB trip and it is on VHS as well....
Any of you computer nerds know how to convert to digital format?

We have a combo VHS/DVD-R/W player that can do that with older (non copy protected) VHS tapes. But putting them on DVD is as digital as we have gone with it.

You could have been more direct and just asked Brettski.

even if you have an inexpensive camcorder, they often have a pass through where u can use the outs on the vcr, plug into the camcorder, and use the camcorders firewire to capture the footage on your computer. There are also things like, "Dazzle" i belive its called that is essentially a passthrough as well for converting things like vhs to digital formats.

Hey George, there are several services that will convert VHS to digital for under $10.00 per VHS. Do a search on VHS to DVD and you will get some listings. In our area CVS Pharmacy will do the conversion.
