A F1 is a cross between a Northern Strain Largemouth and a Florida Strain Largemouth. The cross combines the aggresiveness of the Northern LMB with the larger size of the Florida LMB.

Some of the lakes in Virginia have F1 LMB. Mostly southern VA though. The only one in northern VA that has F1 LMB in it, is a nuclear power plant cooling lake, so the water stays warmer than is normal... I think when they did genetic testing a couple years ago, they found very little FL genetics in the fish though. I think North Carolina/Southern VA in the east and perhaps Oklahoma/Kansas in the Midwest. The farther north you go I think the less benefit you will see from the FL genetics though. Growing season is too short for the results.
