What color are these "catfish", are they are bluish silver color or a brownish yellow color? Bluish silver, channel cats... Brownish yellow, bullheads, either brown or yellow.

Work on getting the water quality back up to par and then if interested, you can consider improving your fishery a bit. Sounds like you have a great place to let your children be kids!
