I was wondering about this today and figured I would consult the experts My pond is a lot of aquatic vegetation which provides large areas of thick cover. (Water lilies and bladderwort).
I was wondering how the fish population will change if any after all the aquatic vegetation is killed and the only remaining structure will be the few trees I have sunk and the 2 fishing docks.
The pond is going to be treated in April, hopefully before Easter.

Less places for small stuff to hide from predators. Also could cut down on invertebrates (bugs) that the little stuff needs.
Note: You didn't get one of the experts.

Eric, here is what will likely happen if ALL of your vegetation disappears, your predators will clean house on most of your smaller fish this year. If you are bass heavy now then your LMB will likely be skinny and big headed next year as there will be little to no forage left for them next spring. Your 14-15" LMB will struggle to survive on 1" BG and you will should see a jump in the size of your BG. I have seen this scenario play out twice in the last 22 years and started to make LMB culling decisions based on how well the weed treatments went.

Thanks guys, did not realize the "weekend factor" but makes sense.
Shorty, my BG are already a good average size of 6 to 8 inches.
My bass seem to be getting harder to catch sense I bought the property in November of 2007, but I think that's partially do to the fact that I cannot fish shallow water anymore in my pond because of all the water lilies and bladderwort.
Once I get the aquatic vegetation under control I want to get the water tested and start fertilizing.

Eric, what is it going to be treated with? quote from my guy. We'll probably apply 2,4-D with perhaps some diquat or glyphosate thrown in for good measure (depending on weed density and maturity).
