Hi everyone, my wife and I have a 3 acre "homestead" in Gratiot County, Michigan, and we are thinking of raising either bluegill or yellow perch for our own consumption, and found this site via google. Hope to learn a bunch from you guys!

Welcome to the Pond Boss family, Roger.
We're glad to have you here. I've got a pond that we raise bluegill and yellow perch in combination. They both taste great and seem to coexist quite well.

We are actually looking at either blue barrels or stock tanks. We would then use the "fish water" to water our garden. I know that small containers like this would need to get charged much more frequently, but since we have a large garden, it'll get used.

Yellow perch are absolutely the tastiest fish I've ever eaten. Interestingly, they are quite tolerant of low DO levels, provided they aren't stressed by some other parameter, such as high temperatures.

A pond is not really feasable, with the area we have and the other things (orchard, cane fruuit, garden, poultry, rabbits, and small animals that need range), otherwise we would *wink*
