Pond Boss Forums STOCKING A NEW POND Types of fish to choose fish seller near Kansas City?

I was just curious to know if anyone on this site sells fish near Kansas City. My pond is actually a ways south of town. I thought I saw somewhere that one of you guys was going to be near Hume, MO this spring. My pond is not far from there. If this is the case and you provide fish, I would gladly give my business to someone on this site. I have siphoned over the winter and have now ordered a box of shiners from Anderson's. I will need FHM and BG this spring and then LMB in the fall or next spring.

We'll probably hit you first as we will be spending quite a bit of time with the other two clients....installing habitat, fish feeders, etc. I would rather unload all of the fish pror to doing the other work. Rainman he finally started listening to me. I have been telling him to do this for years. yes he has been trying to line it all up for awhile. I can gurantee the client will get a better service than if the "fishman" showed up. THe fish stockers usually know just one thing how to sell you more fish. Shawn will be a great supplier of fish and sell quantity and species to meet client's goals.

I'm going to be looking for advanced sized fish of the following this spring:

- Smallmouth Bass
- Yellow Perch
- Chain Pickerel
- Walleye
- Hybrid Striped Bass
- Redear Sunfish

I'm planning to cull a bunch of LMB this year, keeping all of them under 14", to make room for some new predators. I'm still in a VERY bass heavy situation, but for some reason the golden shiner population seems to be thriving (lots and lots of structure still).

Weissguy, that is gonna be one sweet fishing hole if you can get the fish population to stabilize after introducing all those new species. Quite the challenge, but I think worth it when you can fish your own pond and never know what's on the end of your line!

CJBS2003, exactly what I'm going for. Variety, but nothing too crazy. The walleye and pickerel will be in very low numbers, just for something to catch as a novelty from time to time. They should have very little impact on the pond overall. The HSB will be stocked in slightly higher numbers. The smallmouth will be the largest number of new predator fish stocked. I am hoping to manage the LMB population enough to keep them going. We'll see how that goes in practice, but it's my intention anyway. The yellow perch and redear stocking numbers will probably be roughly the same.

I enjoy fishing for LMB and BG, but honestly, I really like to just troll from time to time, and due to the size, depth and contour of my pond it is quite easy and fun to do. The walleye, pickerel, hybrid stripers and perch make that a much more exciting prospect. It would also provide some more fishing fun in the colder months when the LMB are pretty lazy.

Sounds good to me, you've got the pond size to pull it off... Just can't manage that many species in smaller ponds, but a whopper like you got I think it is doable... I hope it works out for you. It'll give me something to shoot for when I finally get a larger pond to work with.
