The Pumkinseed is the most colorful of all the species IMO. BTW the fish was weighed on certified scales and was just shy of 1 pound! It qualified for a Michigan master angler award.
A 1 pound pumpkinseed is a monster. Wow! I agree with you on color. I think it's up there with a male brook trout in spawning colors. Even David Thoreau was mesmerized by them.�

�Here's how he's looked for the last 9 years.��Most people that see it on the wall say "I've caught bigger Bluegill than that". I tell them it's not a bluegill it's a Pumkinseed. Everytime, I get a look from them like I'm crazy. At least it's only been called a Perch once!��
