I must have asked in the wrong forum so I'll try here. What should I use for dye? I think I know where my leak is. What is non-toxic and what is? I saw another post talking about milk. Does that work?

The time that I saw it used, it was in a hardened state; something like big pieces of chalk. No idea of the source.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

oldcane we and many other forum memebers sale pond dye. Around $50/gallon or so. Pour it aroudn the area you suspect leak. This time of year even you had to dye your entire pond it will not harm the fishery.

Greg, is there any DIY stuff? I will have time over the next day or so but then it will be a few weeks before I have any free time during daylight. Not that I'm impatient or anything........

Will turf dye work? I can get that locally.

You might be able to find pond dye locally. I have seen Aquashade at the local TSC (farm supply store) next to fish feed.

Ok, I guess I'm not understanding the purpose. I just called TSC and sure enough they have it. But they are telling me this stuff spreads and colors ALL the water. Don't I need something that will settle to the bottom where I think it's leaking and then get sucked out? I mean if it spreads how in the world will I know where the leak is? I need to plug the leak on the inside of the pond, not the outside, right?

How about mixing food coloring with condensed milk or something?
