I put 50 Redears in my new pond in early June along with 50 Bluegill and 7-8 lbs. of FHM. I see the BG all the time and often see new FHM. I never see the RES (unless they appear to be bluegill to my untrained eye). Are they shy?
I have spent a little time fishing the new pond. today I caught 6 bluegill and one yellow perch ( I added the Perch a couple of weeks ago) on live worms. I have yet to catch a RES. I went fishing this evening using live crawfish/crayfish/crawdads. Should be a favorite of RES. Only hooked one BG ( a monster - looked like easy 10" but got off the hook). I mean how shy are those RES?
2/3 acre pond 12 miles from that big pond we call Lake Erie.
