A 10" trout is perfect pan size IMO and plenty of fun to catch.
Bigger is better for me. This fish fought and fought and wouldn't give up. My neighbor had to get off his lawnmower and net if for me. That's him holding it in the picture. I didn't eat it but I made a good chunk of cash selling it to another taxidermist. Almost 12 lbs. and 26 inches.

You're right though a pan sized trout is probably the best tasting.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
