Ryan, I don't know how trout taste from other ponds, but mine taste great. I had a friend try some of my rainbow trout last summer cause he heard that trout that were fed commercial food didn't taste as good.
He trout fishes regularly in Adirondack rivers & streams, and told me my trout tasted as good or better than wild Trout.
Now I feed them Aquamax, but they also have plenty of natural food in the pond.

How big will the trout get from november to may? If pellet fed.
brand new, never before used 1/4 acre pond.

How big will the trout get from november to may? If pellet fed. Max growth rate for trout in optimum temps is an inch and half a month. If your water temps stayed in the 50's for the most part you could get that.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

I had rainbow trout this summer grow from 5" to 13" in sixty days in my lake on all you can eat scuds. (then died)

Why did they die, Blair? Shallow, warm water for a short time period??

If your water temps stayed in the 50's for the most part you could get that. I had rainbows and goldens in my pond last winter from late October through May. I was able to feed through about Thanksgiving, and them again from about Mid-March on. I didn't see any significant growth -- maybe an inch, to an inch-and-a-half at the most. We love fish, but neither my wife nor I really cared for the trout. They were truly "fishy" tasting. My bluegill, bass, and catfish are always delicious. But, they sure were fun to feed and watch.

I don't understand why the trout were fishy tasting unless maybe they only ate trout pellets. Any Ideas ?

Good question.
IMHO catfish are less fishy tasting when they eat mainly fish feed.

I have tons of frogs in the pond, maybe that's why the trout taste like Chicken!

Ken, My first winter with trout in my warmwater pond we had a mild El Nino winter. I had mostly brooks, which prefer cooler water than even rainbows of course but they grew 3 to 4 inches from fall to early May. I had some browns that went from fingerlings to 10 inches.

A 10" trout is perfect pan size IMO and plenty of fun to catch.

A 10" trout is perfect pan size IMO and plenty of fun to catch. Bigger is better for me. This fish fought and fought and wouldn't give up. My neighbor had to get off his lawnmower and net if for me. That's him holding it in the picture. I didn't eat it but I made a good chunk of cash selling it to another taxidermist.  Almost 12 lbs. and 26 inches. Yeah I know the pic's been here before but I like to post it.  You're right though a pan sized trout is probably the best tasting.
