This is the typical scenario with people and bass. No one ever thinks to pull them out and leave the BG go. Is there any reason why you don't want BG's? If all you are worried about are BG's overpopulating, well that is a good thing in your case. You are trying to establish what I call a trophy bass pond. You have to reduce the number of bass to a few at a very large size and a ton of BG's and bait fish. I would pull out all bass under 13 inches. If that is all you are catching then begin by stocking at least 150 4-6 BG this spring. That way they will begin to supply your bass the food they need. I would also stock 15-20 pounds in both the spring and fall this year. With that said, shiners will help, but only once you harvest the bass.
