I read on the package that you shouldn't irrigate with water that has been treated with rotenone for a few months. Does this apply to crops and pasture land only? I want to use treated water to irrigate the grass seed on the new dam.

Gw, I would suspect that the warning pertains to edible plants/animals being watered from the treated source.

From the gist of your posts and your preferance toward natural solutions/habitats, I'm shocked that YOU would even be considering Rotenone.

Well, if I'm not mistaken Rotenone is made from the roots of plants.  Cindy's new pond has fish that came up from the creek before the dam was finished. The people just upstream from us made a pond (unauthorized) on the creek and I think they stocked it (and the creek) with crappie. I know I don't want crappie in this pond. Eventually I'll probably stock most of the native local fish, but I want to do it in a somewhat controlled way. I am aware that LMB are indigenous to my area...

GW, just considering cost, time, and efforts, what is to stop future high-water stocking events coming from your neighbor's naughty pond?

Sunil, the Rotenone is for my girlfriend's brand new pond. I'm happy with the WM that Mr. H sent me, even though they decimated my FH population.
