Jeff you ae right. I forgot to add that in there, I do the same as well. It helps save money. I have always tied my mono and my braid together with a blood knot. Has anyone els used a diffent know to fuz the two lines together.


I thought I was the only one to use a monofilament leader on braided line. \:\)

Here's what I use. It's a variation of the whip knot. Not at all bulky, and pretty easy to tie. Just pretend the rope is your super braid. Be sure to keep every turn tight, and it will break before it slips off.




Actually on my salt water rig I used a Mono to pre-load the spool, Braid to fill it, and about a 3 foot length of much larger (30-50lb) mono leader leading to the hook. Gave the line a little stretch at the end and seemed to work well with some of the bait shy fish. I used the blood knot on the mono leader and a blood knot or a surgeons knot on the pre-loaded portion. Thank God I'm not the only nut using 2 types of line. I just knew that old man was laughing at the thought of me doing that everytime he saw me on the beach. \:D
