Some FS are telling LMB pond clients not to remove BG (or not many). The more forage the better. Some still say its ok to eat a few but to leave the largest ones. None that I know of suggest following the old rule of taking out 10 lbs of BG for each lb of LMB removed.

If I were going to manage a LMB pond by removing one type of BG it would be the large males but not off the beds during spawning. This is because the large males suppress the spawning of smaller males and thus keep overall BG #s down. There is a lot of unknown WRT the effect of this tactic on overall poundage of BG produced for forage.
