This is a different question about artesian wells and possible ideas??? I ahve a 2nd artesian well, same 45 yr. old pond, 1/3 acre recently excavated etc. My Grandfather appraently had a second pipe installed on a different side of the pond that only ever trickled water out (only enough to drip, but contstatnly over the past 45 years!) Duringthe recent excavatin the horizontal peipe which was jsut under a few inches of dirt on the surface was ripped out and the tinies of flows is spilling ont he ground (and stays unfrozen so far)

I poked a rod down and it went down about 18-20 ft. max before jamming up. This is a 2" well pipe. Any advice on how I might try to rejuvinate this well or where it might have gotten stuck 45 years. ago. My brothers and I are assuming that this well didn't work, so the 2nd one was drilled and is the one that puts 20,000 gallons a day into the pond for the past 45 years?

I would love to reach the real flow under there, expecially after I learned that last year a commercial well driller re-drilled a well less than 1000 ft. from this site and hit 150 gallons / minute or 216,000 gallons a day (had to ratchet way back per DNR restrictions etc. Any ideas, people with experience with drilling artesian wells??? There are dozens and dozens of artesian wells in this area?

To second Robinson, we have lots of well users here, but I don't remember anyone drilling their own.

Any well drillers out there, speak up and give us a backside temperature reading.

I am one of the brothers Michael refers to. Yes, the large artesian well flow is that we desire to stock the pond with Rainbow trout. Since we excavated the pond to 14' plus we now have a larger volume of water and far deeper than the previous 5-6'. We probably are in good shape with water temp throughout the year yet wanted that extra insurance for the Rainbows. Nothing like a Rainbow on the end of a fly-rod.

1/2 acre pond in West Branch, MI. Plan to stock in early 2025
