Sunil, I agree, got to think of the ladies. Along those lines, we could slay those CA Largemouths with that new fragrance "just a whisper of Hamster".
Just do it...

i think you should come up with a canister to hold the mouse. then make a potato gun that fits the canister. the hardest part to do would be a way to open and retrieve the canister once it hits the water.

Lovelace LAke - I like the potato gun concept. I'm thinking compressed CO2. Haven't done the math and I'm not sure I can generate enough force. Another good product similarity would be a paint ball gun. What do you think?

Remember, compression killed the cat...errr...I mean mouse.
Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:" "She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

i think the paintball gun is to small. i do believe that compression is the way to go. i will see if i can come up with a concept or two that might work. another way is gunpowder. i know it sounds bad, but i dont think it will be and it will be cheap. get a metal pipe that has threads at on end that is big enough to hold your mouse. seal the end with the treads with a cap. drill hole through cap just big enough for fuze. add a half a themble full of black powder then get a piece of foam and compress it and stuff it down the barrel. then place mouse and light fuze. get back.

You guys are over thinking this project and getting way, way too complicated. Why reinvent the wheel? Here's what you need: 1. A cat. Hand raise it from a kitten and train it to do a simple task. 2. A wooden cooking spoon. Your wife probably has one in a drawer in the kitchen. Heck my wife probably has four or five. Take one, she won't even notice it's gone. 3. A rolling pin. Once again look in the kitchen. This she might miss it if she bakes much or uses it for disciplinary purposes. Virtually any cylindrical object will do. It's simple. Cat catches mouse. Cat places mouse on spoon which is cantilevered over cylindrical object. Cat steps on spoon handle. Mouse is launched. No fuss, no muss, no bother. Sure the cat is going to eat an occasional mouse and perhaps torture a few but you have plenty of mice. Training the cat is the most difficult part but it can be done. After several months of training I was able to get my cat to do it. I was just having him toss the mouse vertically, mostly for my own amusement, but I'm sure that you could adjust the angle to achieve a different trajectory.
