Hello, I hope it's ok to start here. I work from my cell phone. I have no computer at this time. I'm retired and looking to move to a place where I can live and fish. Not real sure it can be done on my income, though I thought you'll here might point me some in a general direction. I'm thinking of moving towards ne Texas. Presently I'm living in Ca. trying to save funds. Would you think if I can find 3-4 acres of land for under 30k in Texas and would that be enough land for a 1/2 acre pond. Being disabled puts a real crimp in working so that's why i'm retired.

That sounds feasible to me. The land prices in NE Texas are A LOT more reasonable compared to other parts of the state. For 30k I bet that you could get close to 10 acres including power and water.

Welcome to the site.
They say land is cheaper in Texas, So come on over. The best way to insure success when building a pond is planning. That will also be true when buying land in the great state of Texas. When you are looking tell the buyer you want the minerals with the surface. You will be glad you did.

Otto Mike, for my education (and maybe Jim's) do you mean that you want the mineral rights? How does that work in Texas?

Same way in Texas if you can be sure you get the surface and mineral rights.

Been quite awhile since I have seen available mineral rights. It can happen but usually, the guy you are buying from doesn't have the rights either.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
