It would probably work, but may require a good percentage of weedy shallows to grow crawfish, snails, grass shrimp, and other forage. I think the number of adult RES per acre will be pretty small, even if you have no bluegill.
RES are one of my favorites. They can really bend a light fly rod. When the big ones are hitting during the spawn, you can have a blast!
