As of 4pm yesterday ****ZERO****. May have had a shower last night? In SA .08... not EVEN a tenth of an inch, just before sundown yesterday. At this point, I'll settle for a little grass greening and keep waiting on ponds to fill. Radar shows a few bands working but still mostly south of us. http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=ewx&product=N0R&loop=yesThe fence builder finished his cement work on entrances yesterday so...bring it on we're ready.

We got about two inches at our place. A bunch more went just west of us.
We'll take all the rain we can get, but it still feels like a missed opportunity...
Prior to the rains, the ponds were 7-8' low.

dave, we're workin on 7 feet low here with not even a hurricane in sight. this is the driest spring and summer in County's recorded history. even the oaks and pines are starting to show the stress.

The Lazy W pond is down about 8 or 9 feet. Miss Dolly missed us completely. It don't look good for another chance of rain for a while either. I feel all you guys pain. It is easy to manage a pond without any water in it but who wants to. The cormorants are moving in and I had to encourage them to leave yesterday.
In Dog Beers, I've had one.

kinda strange that the remnants of Dolly have been dowsing central and southern IL for the past couple of days. Sorry Al and Dave...you can pick up your runoff in St Louis.

The cormorants are moving in and I had to encourage them to leave yesterday. I saw something about a bunch of cormorants up north somewhere that were sick and dying. Could be good news in a bad way...

Thanks, Chris. I've had my eye on it. It needs to pick the southernmost route for us to get the most rain. Welcome, Edouard! Leave some rain and try not to hurt anyone.

Hey guys! Been a while! Saw the dolly thread and it was a good excuse to brag on my brother John. He joined homeland security and trained jan-june for border patroll and much spanish. You may have seen him and his buddies in the news: http://www.borderfirereport.net/latest/d...ches-fails.htmlHe has also caught 7 illegals and busted a guy with 25 pounds of coke in the last month. He is very proud to be able to serve his country again as a former marine. Unsung heros imho.

He is very proud to be able to serve his country again as a former marine. Unsung heros imho. Unsung hero in ALL of our opinions. Tell him this American thanks him for his continued service to our country. Oh and don't be such a stranger Keith, six months between posts? Sheesh, what have you been doing?

I'll tell John about your comments; I know it will make him feel good that he's appreciated. I hope this new storm doesnt do much damage and brings us Texans some much needed rain!

I was just watching an expose on ABC (or NBC?) about the various agencies that perform homeland security. They showed the singular, centralized radar/listening station in the Arizona Sonora desert that provides the eyes and ears to replace a dozen border patrols. Only problem, when they DO pick up offender(s), they dispatch a 2 man team out into the dead of the desert night to confront them. They use 2-way radio to guide them with GPS coordinates to get them kinda close. Then, and this scared the krap outta me, these heroic guys get out of the jeep, into the darkness, and start tracking these illegal immigrants on foot. They said that something like 3 in 10 are already wanted for felonius crime, including murder. - That takes guts, my man.... - Please tell John that my entire family thanks him for his service.

It does scare me a little him busting guys with 25 lbs of coke Those guys dont mess around. yeah, the king ranch is in their territory along with a few other big ranches and when a sensor goes off they go check, might be a deer, cow, or alien, and they are kinda desperate but now that homeland security does it they are all federal agents, that was some extensive training and they run their arses, he lost 40lbs and can run 2 miles in about 14 min now, not bad for a 36 year pld id say, hes allways packin and weve been shooting since we were kids, hopefully that serves him well

He shouldn't even be running - just shooting.
Just do it...
