I have genetically enhanced male tilapia that produced fry. HMMMMMMM. I guess they weren't so genetically enhanced.

The ones I buy are 99% guarenteed male, I think the reason being that the buyer is usually a farmer and will usually sell at around 5 months. So if there are any offspring it is of little or no concern.
1/4 & 3/4 acre ponds. A thousand miles from no where and there is no place I want to be...

I didn't think the conditions were right. I have 12, 8" to 12" Tilapia in about 35 gallons of water. Just didn't expect it even if I knew there were females in the tanks.

 tilapia are sexed using the genital papilla. Tilapia on the left is male and on the right, female.
