I don't do a lot of consulting for non-profit organizations anymore but I used to. My suggestion is that you first learn the regulations that govern charitable fund raising in your state.

Second, put together a prospectus about what you intend to do with the funds - - not just that you want to purchase land - - but what population you intend to serve, what services or benefits you intend to provide, a explanation of why that service or benefit is needed, how many benefit recipients you estimate you will have, include a budget that segregates general and administration costs, fund raising costs and program expenses. The more professional this looks the better. This will also help you refine your goals and objectives.

My third suggestion would be that you contact any Private Foundations in your area that might be willing to donate funds.

Fourth, get the local media behind you, that always helps.
