Today the back of my hand is swollen twice its size due to one of the bites.
Avoid scratching the bite, scratching will only make the swelling get worse, been there and done that with deer fly bites in the past. Over the counter Benadryl will also help reduce the swelling. I have never used the patch but whenever I start getting pestered by a deer fly I stop what I am doing, and then I kill the dang thing. FYI - deer fly breed in decaying vegetation along the shore line.
