Does anyone know of a lab anywhere in the US that I can send tissue samples of my largemouth to find out if they are Florida strain, straight Northern or a mix? I cannot find out where the bass came from original in our lake when the were stocked in the mid 1980's. I would like to know so I don't waste my money purchasing pure strain Floridas to better the genetics and in turn help to produce bass over 10 lbs.

If I find out that I have Northerns or the bass are a weak mix but more Northern dominate genes, how many pure strain Flordia adults would you recommend I stock? Would 100 2 to 4 lb. pure strain adults be enough or am I better off geting fingerlings? I can get either. I realize that fingerlings will become prey in a lake that currently has adult bass in it and will also take time to mature and then spawn. Adults would spawn with my other bass faster and produce offspring.

The lake is approx. 100 acres and in California. I have been re-shaped the bass population over the last 1 1/2 years by culling and it has worked in increaing my bass sizes in whole by addind 3" on the average more in length and turned my RW from about 85 - 90% RW to now almost all at 110 - 120% RW.
