Ed - It all depends. Generally for other panfish yes, but it depends on the species, predator density, and mostly on water productivity. Yellow perch feed "a little higher on the food chain" than bgill which means they can have more of a percentage of fish in their diet compared to bgill. This can also be quite variable depending on the forage fish populations. Typically not as many perch will be produced per acre as bgill and harvested numbers will be fewer, again this depends on several things or variables. The bgill numbers to be harvested for TyW are quite low due to the estimated low productivity of his water and to error on the side of a conservative estimate to reduce the chance of overharvest. An overharvest of large bgill in low productivity and competitive conditions could take a fair amount of time for the populaiton of large bgill to recover to pre-harvest conditons.
