TyW - I did not have an actual written formula for calculating numbers of bluegill harvested. No actual formula exists that I know of for various types of water bodies and that is the problem. Each water body is unique and has different and ever changing standing crops due to all the variables influencing it. My numbers of bgill to be harvested for your small lake were estimated numbers based on probable alkalinity, water clarity, type of predator, average standing crop and my experiences for some low nutrient ponds and a typical local gravel pit that I am familiar with. Use the numbers as initial guidelines. If your alkalinity and productivity are different than what I have estimated then an adjustment of harvested bgill and bass would need to be made based on how individuals in the populations are responding i.e. condition factors. The fish will tell you how "things are going in your lake". You just need to make the observations and implement proper adjustments when necessary.
