Just wanted to let everyone here know that i went fishing in my pond that i stocked adult or 12inch to 23 inch LMB and put in 450 BG from 2 inch to 7 inch.The BG i caught were really fat.
They are feeding on small minnows in they pond that i didnt notice when i wrote my first post.My friend was kicking the fire ant beds in the water cause he hates them and like watching the BG eat them up.But i didnt like that cause i thought it could harm the BG.Is that right??Thanx for any help.
I caught 5 LMB caught the 14inch to 16 inch.The 2 14" where 2.2 and 2.5 pounds and the 3 16" where 2.7 and 2.12 lbs.All looked really fat.I made little spots on the side cause i swear i saw a pack od baby LMB!!!It has been warm here for 3 weeks now and i think i saw baby BG as well cause i know i didnt stock 1 inch BG,so i quickly made places for them to hide.
I just cant believe this is happening so fast.It has only been a month and a half since i put in the BG and LMB.The past 2 weeks i put in 250 of the 500 BG.Can this be right?With all the warmth that we have,and will the babies survive if it gets cold.Most of the time feb is tha coldest month here in myrtle beach.

Sounds like you have some good fishing to look forward to!
Any baby BG/LMB you saw were hatched out last summer/spring.
Fire ants will kill fish, but it takes a lot. I wouldn't worry.

Thanx for the info.Thats what i thought about the fire ants.I wouldnt want to have them in my guts stingin me.So it must take a fair amount of time for them to reach 12 inches?

This weekend is supposed to be nice i am goin to catch BG and take pictures of them.I am goin to take pictures of my LMB so everyone can see i am doing what i say i am and they can see that they are all fat.
Of course i will need help putting the pictures on my post.Wish i could catch the small minnows and other baby fish that i think are baby BG and LMB.This site is so awsome i love this site.Everyone has been super helpfull and so informative.

I'm guessing Picture Two is a regular bluegill.
For Picture One, I'm thinking there is some green sunfish in there, but the shape doesn't seem to match up with a pure greenie.

My uncles pond seems to have every color BG and some i havent seen before.Can it be some kind of mix breed?All my uncle has been doing is putting a bunch of FM in there and bread from the bread guy and every once in a while some protien pellets.When i catch some more i will put them up sunday.Thanx for putting the pictures up.
I will start a record of the LMB i have in the pond along with Length and weight and of course pictures.Pictures are alot nicer to l;ook at.But so far i have put in about 750! of that size as you can see it is 2 and a half to some7 inch bg.Oh yeah what is a RES?oh yeah so far all have swam away fine.

Thanx for that Theo.I noticed that some have horizontal bars and some have vertical bars.Are the daarker fish some kind of shellcracker?
My uncle has asked me to catch some LMB for his pond and after i was reading i think he has to much forage.So far i have put in 32 adult LMB.
It will be years before they start to bite a lure with all the food they have.I caught this poor LMB that was 22 inches long and barely 3 pounds.My friend wanted to put him out of his missery but he had som pep to him.So i put him in a stunted BG pond and told him to live his remaing life with plenty to eat.
My buddy laughed at me for doing this , but that why i catch more than he does.I respect the fish i love to catch.Should i have put him out of his missery???Thanx

Gussing
1 = RBS or mix
2 = BG or mostly BG
3 = PS or RBS hybrid (PS X RBS )
There could easily be LES in 1 or 3 .

Went around my pond today and there are millions of tad poles swimming around the banks. Is this food for any of the fish that i have? And i am up to 1750+ BG, HBG and out of 85 adult LMB it is really hard to get them to bite.But when they do man they pull hard . And all are real fat way ahead of the size chart. should i wait to put more in after spawn? I see tons of beds all around the pond both small and large beds. SO i guess they are takeing to the new pond they now call home.Thanx for any help and alot more pics comeing more BG and more LMB

Went around my pond today and there are millions of tad poles swimming around the banks. Is this food for any of the fish that i have? LMB relish tadpoles. Mine are getting fat off of them right now. We had an explosion of tadpoles in the pond this spring. I'm very happy for that.
12 ac pond in NW Missouri. 28' max depth at full pool. Fish Present: LMB, BG, RES, YP, CC, WB, HSB, WE, BCP, WCP, GSH.

Thanx for that info Theo. Should i still be stocking BG. Or between spawn fry from LMB and BG and fhm should be enuff to feed them for awhile? Do sunfish take turns useing the other beds or do they spawn at the same time???Thanx for the help.

At last total, I had it at 1750 bream, in various sizes, and 85 adult LMB - is that about right? If a man who has stocked close to 2000 fish in 2 months can just sit back and relax, I think it's time to sit back and relax, maybe keep an eye on the algal bloom. Do some feeding. Build a nuclear powered submarine to observe fish from underwater.

I would guess #3 is a PS, and #1 is a greenie/PS cross.

I heartily agree. Every time a look at those two I think the names are backwards. I double-checked photos again before I posted them above.
