I will probably stock the pond with macroinverts and zooplankton. Macroinverts, like mayflies, will probably be bought from a bait shop, which I think would be fairly safe...
Zooplankton might be bought as a pure culutre from aquatic ecosystems. If I put 50 gravid daphnia in an empty pond they would fill the thing with in a month. In warm weather they can double thier population in 4 days.
Gambusia, walleye don't have the physical adaptations that LMB have to eat BG. And they won't reproduce in a pond wich means they would need to be restocked regularly to control the BG. And we are not up for that.
If we stock them all at the same time will the walleye get a jump on the LMB? If they had an extra year under their belt it would increase thier ability to eat the LMB, which would be good for us. Especialy if we use 300 BG/acre, then the BG could go one year with out any LMB.
Right now I am leaning towards inverts/plankton will go in this summer. WL/BG spring 2006 and LMB spring 2007.
