Just to let you know my personal opinion, which may not be worth much...but I tend to want to go slightly below "recommended" numbers on the channel catfish. You can always add more later, but I'd say that in general, people complain more about too many catfish than too few catfish. Did you have a supplier who recommended a particular number? Theo, how many channel cats did you originally add? George?
About 300 in 2 acres - maybe more...
Every time a fish truck arrived we added more - wanted instant fish.....
Big mistake - they are running between 10 and 15 lbs now - hook shy and hard to catch and eating us out of house and home.
Follow advise given - stock fewer and add annually based on how mnany havested each year...
