Well....Here it is. It is stocked with 200 HBG, 150 CNBG, 150 RES, and 100 CC along with 6 lbs of fatheads. Not done stocking yet but funds were limited at the time. Still got to get the dock finished as you can tell by the poles sticking waaaayyyyy up in the air. Still gotta do a little tinkering with the water level and hoping that I can get some grass to grow in the barren clay that you see in the picture. All of the dirt out of the pond was used to build up the back of my property. Unfortunately, there wasn't very much topsoil to try and cover the clay. Water is still muddy and I don't think it will ever clear up without help and I'm not sure if I want to try and clear it up or not. Worried about all the silt that would accumulate at the bottom of the pond if I used gypsum. Still not seeing much action by the fish. I stocked them at the end of December and i'm just hoping that it is the cold weather that is keeping them dormant. The only structure that I have is the two islands that you see and 6 Christmas trees thrown in for good measure. It pales in comparison to some of your ponds, but it is mine and I am happy.

Looks neat Keith. Congratulations.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Keith, it will come in time, do a little at a time as finances and time allows, do as much work as you can yourself. My hubby and I did a lot of work on ours by ourselves. We stocked it a little and later again. We did the landscaping ourselves, worked on the grass quite a few times especially around the inner edge of the pond. I had to hire someone to do the dock--we're no carpenters. We put the windmill together ourselves to save. I bought my birdhouses and duck houses on one of my trips to Louisiana (made of Cypress) and cheaper than anywhere to be found. I'm always picking up junk at auctions for the Pond--old fishing poles, pails, motors for our little boat--things that will make the shed I painted the same as the house to store the goodies in. I see you're in my home state, you'll have to watch for those alligators! \:\)

Ours too...10 years....finally said hec with it, we're doing it. And like they said, it's yours, you love it! By next year, your pond will so drastically change in look, you will be amazed...cattails come up by themselves, you'll put maybe a feew trees....we put 3 large willows and 7 evergreens as a boudry--privacy--dug the holes ourselves and planted them to save $$$$SSS. I was raised half way between Baton Rouge and New Orleans in St. James Parish.

I grew up in Cameron Parish on the coast and 8 miles from the texas line. If you know where Holly Beach is, go west and that's where I grew up. I live in Acadia Parish now not far from Jennings.
