Berkley Hatchery Chews are hands down the best bait I have ever used. They look almost exactly like Aquamax 600 and they are about the same size too. They float and they stay on your hook! We caught several fish on just one nugget!

Last year I tried putting pellets in panty hose, egg sac kits, super glue, making rice crispies with aquamax, and a few other concoctions. They all worked, but not even close to this! This is just an awesome product!!!

Today I took out Ed Spanapolous, he works with Cygnet Enterprises in Valparaiso, Indiana. He was my guinea pig today with the new super bait!

lots of guys both those who baitfish from the bank and troll from boat use those berkley products out here for trout including the power grubs, power worms, and power eggs. i personally havent tried them yet, but will before the end of winter here.

I wonder if this will entice my BG to bite. They are some finicky bastages.

i still stand by my cheap fly/worm chunk standard which can be thrown either w/ fly rod or on spinning gear rigged on a leader/swivel/clear plastic bobber combo.

Look closely at the middle picture of ed holding a trout. Right by his pointer finger you can see the hatchery chew attached to the line still.

I think that these hatchery chews will work better on pellet trained fish than anything! You can put one on your small hook and cast very far with ultralight gear without using a weight. They also smell like real food.

Another pond, if you cast a bobber and make a big splash, the fish come running. Best bait for this situation:Cheap fly/worm chunk attached to a clear float.

Catfish fishing in a pellet fed pond, place a split shot about 10 inches above your hook baited with 2 hatchery chews and hold onto your pole, dont set it down.

I use real fish pellets. They lodge tightly into the curve of a #8 hook, and stay on the hook very well. If they won't bite that, they won't bite anything. I use a flyrod or a Little Jewel bream pole with no cork.

Hatchery chews weigh more, float longer and attach to a hook faster than pellets. You can also cast them alot further. you can also add a split shot to fish them near the bottom. Versatility!

Nope, I am just pumped up about catching tons of fish this year. I went out to the trout pond again today for a little business meeting and I brought my friends IM8 and Hatchery Chews to seal the deal! 8 casts, 7 strikes, 4 hook ups, Not too bad for 5 minutes.

Nate, I have thoroughly �field tested� your highly recommended Berkley Power Bait trout pellets and find them quite effective, however I use them differently than you for different reasons.

My first preference for pellet flies is my foam fly, but downside is that large HSB create a wake that pushes the fly away form the fish causing missed strikes.

My second choice is Cecil�s pellet fly with real AQMX pellet encased in PH, used with larger hook to sink the fly, deadly on large HSB below surface.

Your recommended PowerBait pellet downside (for me anyway) is one pellet- one fish.
On the plus side, used as a sinking fly, I catch larger HSB as well as culling smaller BG.
I am eager to try for CC as soon as they become active.
CC have become very hook shy �with anything with a string tied to it� - to quote DD1.

Since it will be used strictly as a fly, my next step is to encase the PB pellet in panty hose material. I believe it will result in more fish per pellet and maybe be effective with hook shy CC.

I cant wait to be able to fish with these little nuggets for other fish besides trout when the weather starts warming up! Probably will be another month. I did catch a catfish and some bluegill icefishing with little pieces of the hatchery chews.

Panty hose casing would scare some of my hook shy CC. I am willing to sacrifice one fish per pellet, Cause most of the time I am taking clients fishing and dont have time to make up baits.

Nate, I haven�t had a chance to try the Berley nuggets on hook shy 12-15lb CC, but hopefully soon. May work with them near the bank because don�t have to false cast to reach them with a long fly rod cast.

As you know, one of the main advantages of a fly cast is that you can pick up the fly from the water and instantly lay the fly in another position, without having to wait to reel in and recast.

With the Berkley pellet, when I pick up the sunken pellet from the water, the pellet pulls off the hook and I end up casting a bare hook...

I do better with hook shy fish on a sinking pellet than on top, so maybe the panty hose nugget fly will work � I have some tied up to try anyway...
