I was thinking of getting a removable dock ladder. I'd prefer metal rather than build a wooden ladder - either stainless or aluminum. I'd also prefer it have some sort of mounting bracket to make it easy to remove so that it doesn't invite strangers to use the dock while I'm not there.
Any recommendations on what to get and where to get it?

Rob, IIRC both Cabelas' and BassPro (at least one, if not both) have very nice looking dock ladders, but I don't recall how removable they might be.
They were too expensive (like $150 or so) for my taste, so we use the bottom half of an aluminum 16' extension ladder set. Jammed down in the mud and lashed to the dock with rubber bungees, it is very stable and comes out easy at the end of the warm season, before the pond freezes.

We bought an aluminum ladder on ebay for about $130.00. There was no shipping as they sell them in a nearby town. The wife just drove over and picked it up. Syracuse, Indiana. We really like it and it is a quality ladder that can be easily removed in the off season and stored.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Good Call, Cecil ...you gotta poke around on this. Too many times I have seen what appears to be a good deal on E-bay and found it cheaper at an on-line store. I like Bing's idea, too.

Ive been thinking about a ladder too.But I think Im going to make my own out of 1 1/4 in furniture grade PVC.Personally I like that stuff.

What makes PVC furniture grade? Is it still ultraviolet susceptible unless painted?

Theo,its kinda hard to find but its great stuff.I made some chairs with it about 7 yrs ago and they sit out in the weather 24/7.never had a problem with it Its u v resistant without paint.It also is schedule 80 pipe and has no lettering on it.High white gloss schene finish.
