I kept some of the small BG and FH in the two totes for a couple days before planting them in a friends pond. The current problem is the fish were being sucked into exit pipes. Both of the exit pipes are at the ball valve on th bottom of the totes. The FH were going out and getting sucked through the pump, even when I put some chicken wire and foam in the exit hole. The BG were getting stuck in the exit pipe even though it is just gravity moving the water. The size pipe I have almost fits into the hole on the inside going to the valve but not very securely. Anyone have any suggestions? The totes are empty now.

How about hardware cloth. It can come in some pretty small sizes.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I can try it but I am not sure how to attach it over the opening.

If it's a flat opening, you can screw it on and dope the screw heads. If it's tubular, wrap wire tightly around it. It will get an algae buildup, so will have to be periodically cleaned.

That worked. I used the self tapping screws that had a rubber washer on them and also added silicone.

Now I have some Fatheads in the tote and I want to see if I can get a spawn going. Water temp is 52 so I need it to come it to come up a bit. Can I just use 6" lengths of 2" PVC or do they need one of the ends blocked off to be more comfy?

I am losing about one FH a day. They appear to have an external infection on them that looks "fuzzy" and the next day they are floating. Any guesses what is it and how to solve it?
