I have heard that when constructing a "Rainbow Bridge" you must be exact in your measurements - especially any holes you drill for hardware. I recall seeing a post or article somewhere where a guy assumed all dimensional lumber was the same. Apparently small differences meant his bridge didn't quite fit together correctly. In the end he got it to work but he had to redo a lot of cutting/drilling.
