I will start trying to find out where I can get some smallies this year.

So I am looking at catching blue gills out of other lakes and putting any amount of them in the pond at any time? If I add any females the fish will reproduce out of control?

I have no interest in any type of catfish/bottom feeders but I keep seeing so many suggestions of adding those in on fish farm websites. Is this just them trying to sell fish they have, or is there really a benefit to adding them?
