James, I normally use Ande line in 12# test and sometme 16# fish in heavy cover.
I have recently gone to PowerPro 20# test - Eq.6# Eq. Diameter

The only fisherman that I know that has the skill to land big fish on 6# mono is Bruce.
I can land them but they would be DOA....

My dad was a heavy line fisherman seldom was he ever caught with a fish larger than his line weight, my grandfather was the opposite he often fished with 2# or 4# leaders. But, in both cases a lot depended on the type of fish and the circumstances.
I enjoy the fight and playing the fish. Pacu is a robust fish and so far I have yet to have one thats been released die.
I use a slow 9' rod and an ultralite Okuma spinning reel.

George, sorry I couldn't get back to you. I haven't had much luck getting on the forum lately.

My current favorite rod is 6'6" a Berkely Cherrywood graphite. Cheap as dirt, and very slim. Chrome guides won't last long under heavy use. That's no problem for me, as I mostly use a fly rod and "Little Jewel" 9' bream pole.

Great pictures George. I believe in passing on fishing knowledge to the young ones too. I've never met an avid fisherman that was a really bad person.

Shorty,
I am surprised that you have lived as long as you have if .....that is the MRS. that the snowball is flying toward. \:\)

Pretty gutsy, I do admit.

BarO, that's my brother throwing a snowball at my sister, it was all soft tossing without packing the snow, the niece, nephews, and the Mrs. were all in on it too. \:\) There was also a 2 hour touch football game out on the ice too, all that extra noise on the ice might explain why the fishing was slow yesterday. ;\)
