George will you please post some pictures of your larger hsb the next time you go fishing.
James, my pond fishing has been sadly neglected the past 6 weeks or so.
I�ve insured they have been well fed and aerated and that�s about all.
I�ve had other interesting projects keeping me busy, and besides that, with no pressure for several months the fishing should be fantastic the coming year.
I don�t photograph HSB any more since so many have been posted in the past, and they all look alike.
I post BG pictures because of the variation in size, shape and color.
The few HSB caught have been cookie cutter 2-4 lbs, but did have one on that straightened my hook that would have been photographed for sure.
I�m thinking about changing my technique now that our HSB are getting older and wiser. Foam pellet flies are not as effective on large HSB because of the violent strike wake pushes the foam fly away from the fish, the same as striped bass will knock a topwater plug out of the water.
The AQMX pellet flies are swallowed by the big HSB and I don�t like that.
Also the larger HSB are hanging out in deeper water and feeding more on forage than pellets and I can�t cast far enough to reach them, and my boat privileges have been rescinded.
I�m researching some long distance casting tackle and techniques that may be the answer, and would appreciate any idea that you or others may have.
