Here's the answer by email I just got from Native Outdoors.

The directional units we currently sell are just the 'throwing unit'.
You would put the directional unit on your own hopper.

So, evidently it's just a throwing unit? Still not a bad deal if you could make a simple connection to a hopper.

How much do hoppers cost; and how do you get them.
