I had a cormorant visit my pond here in New England for the first time in early September. The thing was just brazen. We tried to scare it away and it would just dive around and laugh at we feeble men.
When I finally went into the house to bring out my shotgun, THEN it got scared and flew away...
I did some research on the net, and understand those things are some of the most capable and voracious of fish predators.
