However were these bass and Goldeye (what's that?) originally purchased from a hatchery or were they reproduced in the pond? Many bass are pellet trained now in hatcheries as it is more cost effective than feeding them live feed. And that stays imprinted on them. However as I said there are exceptions.
But what you are observing is entirely possible.
