Great correspondence, Steve I to have a gravel pit some 16 acres not to far from you in South western Ontario and have added both bluegill and pumpkinseed at your ratios from nearby waters. Yes these fish do mate together and produce an interesting offspring (good or bad I don't know?). However, my thought process is this and similar to your's Steve, I to have snails in my tank and I thought both fish could cohabitat well together to feed differently and ultimately help the intended growth of the LMB, at the same time catching some large bluegill/pumpkinseed for supper. Cecil I have caught some 7-8" pumpkinseed this spring with good weight. In my tank I also have SMB that I added last year some 40 adults and many many I believe stunted native yellow perch. I hope these adult LMB and SMB will reduce the numbers of perch and thus increase the overall size of the perch in the biomass. Any thoughts and best of luck. Bill Cody told me that the SMB may not survive with LMB but I had to experiment and created some rock structure for them to help increase their odds a little.
