Do a google search on artesian wells etc. There is lots of info expecially from the USGS on the subject.

If it was me I'd expand. But then I'm a risk taker. \:\)

What are the wells like in your area? Are they free flowing artesian? If so why not put one in and let it flow into the pond to keep up the water level if that is a problem?
