I found this forum yesterday, and can't believe the wealth of information here! I've been reading like crazy. I'm in the middle of a pond construction project (1/2 acre), and I'm learning as I go. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a pump I can use to take water out of my pond to water the grass seed I'll be putting down in the next couple of weeks. The sprinkler I'm going to get requires a minimum of 30 psi. I'll be drawing the water up about 7 or 8 feet. I have other questions, but I may be able to find the answers as I go through the site. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Try Northerntool.com if you want a pump for many uses get a 5or6hp semi trash pump. With this you can hook up a water hose for the grass with some clever plumbing you can set a bleed off and reduce down to an inch. Then if you want you can lime your pond or apply peat or gypsum in the fall. In the winter it takes about a half hour to smooth out the pond. When the weeds get bad you can make a weed plucker and clean a pond in about a half day. I could go on but you get the picture .But buy a good one around 500$

scott--i guess this would work for pumping water from a creek into a pond or can you get by with a less expensive model for that purpose?--i have 300 ft of 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 pipe (can't remember off the top of my head) so i guess i could neck down from pump intake and output to the size pipe i have. northern tool has reliable stuff?? or would be better to get from lowes or a honda pump??

If you get a pump with a good engine brand (Robin-Suburu, Honda, Kawasaki), Northern pumps are as good as any.
