First let me thank everyone for a great forum, there is a ton of great information on this site. My question is whether anyone, considering the pitfalls of convention windmill aeration, has decided to use a windmill generator to charge batteries and then invert the power to AC and run a conventional electric diffuser system off that? It seems that I can put together an outfit for not much more than a windmill aerator, but I can eliminate the problem of inconsistant aeration. Any thoughts?

Interesting. Sounds like a potential solution to a common problem. When the wind blows more in the daytime it would charge the batteries so you aerate when you most need it at night. The system could easily be supplemented with solar panels too should their not be enough wind.

Lots of good info on the net. Here's a good link:

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Thanks for the link, Cecil. There was some very helpful info there.
Here is a link for anyone wanting to find out what their average wind speeds are for their area, http://www.wunderground.com. This should help to figure out if you can reach the minimum average wind speed of 7-9 mph needed to run a wind generator efficiently enough to begin charging batteries.
Does anyone have any direct experience with wind generators and care to elaborate on maintenance and longevity?
